Conference: When robots make the news: do we need to regulate AI use in the media?
Speaker: Prof. Mark Cole
Democracies rely on the free expression and dissemination of ideas in order to allow for unbiased decision-making at elections. With the increased relevance of online platforms and services as information sources there is a new challenge: what happens if the information I receive has not been created by a human being? Does the use of Newsbots challenge the notion of journalism and the question of applicable law? The presentation will discuss whether AI solutions used for creation and dissemination of media content necessitate new regulation.
